Vienna International Philharmonic Art Festival Choir Exhibition Rules
 
I. Age Categories
(Age calculated as of August 1, 2025)

1. Children’s Choir: 6–12 years old (verified by ID/passport birthdate).  
2. Youth Choir: 13–18 years old.  
3. Adult Choir: 19–49 years old.  
4. Senior Choir: 50+ years old.  

II. Ensemble Composition  

1. Size: 11–100 members (including conductor, accompanists, and specialty instrumentalists).  
2. Specialty Instruments: Maximum 5 members may play ethnic/regional instruments ((e.g., traditional Chinese instruments like erhu, guzheng)) or non-traditional accompaniment.  
3. Gender: Mixed-gender teams allowed.  

III. Accompaniment Rules  

1.Permitted Formats:  
-Piano (provided by the organizer), accordion, a cappella.  
-Ethnic instruments (self-provided, (e.g., traditional Chinese instruments like erhu, guzheng)   
Note: Non-piano instruments require pre-approval during registration.   

2.Prohibited:  
- Electronic synthesizers, pre-recorded tracks, or non-live accompaniment.  
- Specialty instrument groups exceeding 5 members.  

IV. Repertoire Requirements  

1. Selection & Duration:     
- Perform 1–2 self-selected choral works (Chinese or international).     
- Total performance time ≤10 minutes (including entrance/exit).     
- Performances exceeding the time limit will be halted and will not be eligible for awards.   

2. Copyright Compliance:     
- Submit original scores or authorization documents (PDF scans).     
- Arrangements require written permission from the original composer.     
- Violators will be disqualified and bear legal liability.  

V. Performance Process  

1. Order of Performance:     
- Determined by organizer-led draw and finalized before the event.     
- The organizer reserves the right to adjust the order for program coherence.   
-Final schedules will be sent via email.

2. Attire:     
- Formal performance attire required.     
- Each children’s choir must be accompanied by at least two adult supervisors or staff members. 

VI. Evaluation & Awards  

1. Evaluation Criteria:     
- Artistic Expression (40%): Intonation, harmony, emotional delivery.     
- Innovation (25%): Repertoire creativity, cultural fusion.     
- Ensemble Cohesion (20%): Vocal balance, conductor-ensemble synergy.     
- Stage Presentation (15%): Poise, costumes, and performance integrity.  

2. Awards:     
- Outstanding Choir Award (per category).     
- Outstanding Conductor/Artistic Director Award (per category).     
- Exceptional groups will be invited to perform at the Golden Hall Awards Ceremony

VII. Application & Preliminary Video Submission  

1. Video Requirements:     
- Submit one continuous video (≤10 minutes) showcasing 1–2 choral pieces.     
- Video must be unedited, with clear audio/video quality.     
-Please do not send video files as attachments. Instead, upload your video to YouTube (Private link) and email the link to office@musicschoolvienna.com.

2. Fees:     
- €50 non-refundable review fee due with video submission.     
- Successful teams pay €250 balance to secure finalist status (total fee: €300).   

3. Deadlines:     
- Videos must be uploaded and links submitted by May 31, 2025.     
- Results notified by June 30, 2025.  
VIII. General Rules  

1. On-Site Participation:     
- Teams passing the video preliminary must attend the live competition at Vienna Musikverein on August 16–17, 2025.     
- Exact performance times will be emailed to teams closer to the event dates.   

2. No Private Photography/Recording:     
- Only authorized committee photographers/videographers are permitted.        
-Unauthorized recording may result in immediate removal from the venue and disqualification.

3. Additional Notes:     
- All rules are subject to updates by the organizing committee.     
- Failure to comply with any rule may result in immediate disqualification. 
 

Note: Here is the registration link for players from competition areas other than China. Registration will be valid only after uploading a copy of the proof of residence for verification.

Exceptional groups will be invited to perform at the Golden Hall Awards Ceremony.
